Producer, Writer, Director
Born and raised in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, Manuel Alejandro Vargas’s directorial work outside his Texan filmmaking education debuted with an award-winning Spanish short-film Argumento in 2019, shot in one continuous take. Manuel’s experimentation with three different film mediums birthed the music-video Ghost, landing him another sleuth of acknowledgement within the film-festival scene in 2020.
Manuel’s diverse filmography also includes the comedic-short anthology TRIBE: The Untold Story of The Making of Vice Cops (2020), centering around the outrageous process of filmmaking, Hues of Blue (2021), an atmospheric silent film and Monkey-Man in The Covid World (2022), a satirical mockumentary of a mythical creature shipped to North America right before the Covid-19 pandemic.
With a unique voice, Manuel continues to develop an array of stories that include a sequel to TRIBE, a feature film entitled “Juniebug”, a slate of experimental shorts, music-videos and more. His artistic oeuvre in the world of storytelling promises to be an exciting, audacious and daring adventure to be the best filmmaker he can ever possibly be.
